How to Tummy Tuck After a Cesarean Section

Childbirth is the moment when the fetus leaves the mother's womb after completing its development, which typically takes forty weeks. This occurs through hormonal secretions from the placenta that cause uterine contractions, pushing the fetus out through the vagina; this is known as natural childbirth.

In certain cases, natural childbirth is not possible, and surgical intervention is required to deliver the fetus from the mother's womb; this is known as a cesarean section. A cesarean section is the process of delivering the fetus from the uterus through an incision in the lower abdomen and uterus, performed by an obstetrician after administering general or local anesthesia to the mother.

Reasons for Cesarean Section

Prolonged labor and the ineffectiveness of natural or induced labor, especially if the fetus is in a breech position, is large, or the mother's pelvis is narrow.

The mother may have certain infectious diseases such as HIV and herpes, or there may be a rupture of the uterine wall.

The fetus exceeded 40 weeks of gestation and a vaginal delivery did not occur.

The mother developed preeclampsia or experienced placental abruption, leading to severe bleeding that could be fatal.

Labor ceased, uterine atony occurred, and the mother stopped participating in the delivery process due to exhaustion, which could lead to fetal death in utero.

Post-Cesarean Section Procedures:

Expel gas by walking after waking from the anesthesia, with assistance from another person. This walking should be repeated throughout the day, even if only a few steps. Drinking lukewarm cumin tea is also recommended to help expel gas.

Avoid strenuous exercise and exposure to high temperatures, such as steam rooms. When showering, use lukewarm water. The incision made by the doctor in the skin will be stitched by the doctor a week after delivery. During this period, the wound should be kept clean and dry, and it is preferable to avoid showering during this time. Afterward, you can shower with lukewarm water. After showering, you should dry the area around the stitches thoroughly and use the antiseptic and medications prescribed by your doctor.

Avoid lifting heavy weights, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to prevent constipation, and avoid straining your abdomen.

Methods of Tightening the Abdomen After a Cesarean Section

After childbirth, the abdominal skin is prone to sagging and stretching, so a tummy tuck may be necessary. However, do not begin this procedure until at least six weeks after the surgery or after consulting your doctor. Some methods to follow for tightening the abdomen include:

Pelvic floor exercises; Lie on an exercise mat or any other comfortable surface. Bend your knees towards your abdomen while simultaneously drawing your navel in and out. Every ten seconds, straighten your legs and repeat the exercise.

Practice aerobics, cycling, and walking on a treadmill for ten minutes daily. Increase the duration as your health improves.

Do abdominal exercises by lying on your back with your legs extended and shoulder-width apart. Lift one leg up and then lower it, repeating the exercise with the other leg.
