Dr. Elaine Glickman, a professor of exercise physiology, says, "If a woman consumes more calories than she burns, she will gain weight and store fat in certain areas of her body, such as the abdomen."
She explains, "Women have a genetic predisposition to storing fat in the abdominal area, as this is a natural way to protect the pregnancy area. Excess calories are stored as fat around the abdomen and hips to protect the baby from shocks."
When it comes to belly fat, genetics suggests it can be challenging for women, but that doesn't mean it's not worth the effort.
A flat stomach is often important. Furthermore, research continues to show that a slim waistline may protect against life-threatening diseases such as breast cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
Belly fat is more likely to release fatty acids into the liver than fat from any other part of the body. As a result, large amounts of cholesterol and insulin circulate in the bloodstream, contributing to various health problems.
Dr. Glickman says, "Women with large bellies often experience back pain. Back pain is usually caused by weak abdominal muscles, so strengthening these muscles helps support your back and reduces pressure on it. When the pressure is reduced, the pain and discomfort decrease."
Here are some strategies to make your belly bulge less noticeable or even eliminate it altogether.
Immediate Solutions
Home Remedies:
Drink Water: Drink more water to treat premenstrual bloating. This will actually help flush out excess fluids, not add to them.
Avoid Carbonated Drinks: Avoid sugary drinks, especially those with added sugar, as these can bloat your stomach and make it appear balloon-like.
Avoid crunchy snacks: Salt causes water retention, especially before your period. Processed and canned foods are high in sodium.
Avoid chewing gum: Chewing gum makes you swallow more air, which can cause bloating.
Stand up straight: Imagine a string with one end touching the top of your head and the other attached to the ceiling. Imagine it pulling you upwards, and your stomach will instantly appear flatter.
Don't slouch: Slouching makes your stomach protrude. To improve your posture, check your chair. If the seat is too high and you can't touch the floor with your feet without slouching, use a footrest about 10 cm (4 inches) high, or place a cushion behind your back to help you move forward while seated. Slimming belts: Slimming belts – belts containing a type of synthetic fabric called Lycra that helps to slim the waist – reduce the size of the abdomen by about an inch or more. The more Lycra it contains, the greater the level of control you will get.
Wear black clothes: Wearing black clothes makes women of all shapes and sizes appear slimmer and taller.
