A glass of vegetable juice daily can help with weight loss.
A low-sodium daily intake can help those with metabolic syndrome, also known as metabolic syndrome, lose weight.
Researchers explained that metabolic syndrome means a patient is exposed to several health risks, including obesity, high blood pressure, elevated triglyceride levels, high blood sugar, high LDL cholesterol, and abdominal fat accumulation. They warned that failing to address these risks could expose the patient to many diseases.
John Furiet of Baylor College of Medicine said that the 81 participants in the study were African American and Hispanic adults with this syndrome.
Furiet, who led the research team, provided the study participants with a diet consisting of lean meats, low-fat dairy products and cheeses, whole wheat, vegetables, and fruits. Their triglyceride, cholesterol, and sodium levels were monitored.
Two groups of participants were then given a low-sodium vegetable juice and asked to drink one or two glasses daily for 12 weeks, while the third group received no juice. The study showed that those who drank at least 226 grams of low-sodium vegetable juice daily for 12 weeks lost about 1.8 kilograms, while those who followed the same diet and did not drink vegetable juice lost only about half a kilogram of their weight.
