Foods That Become Toxic When Reheated

Nutrition researchers made a serious discovery at the beginning of the 21st century: some foods, when refrigerated and then reheated, transform into toxic substances and can sometimes lead to serious and fatal illnesses such as cancer. Therefore, doctors have warned against reheating these foods. Here is a list of such foods:

1. Chicken:

Did you know that when cold chicken is reheated, the proteins in the chicken meat tissue undergo a complete chemical transformation, causing indigestion and, in some cases, even poisoning? Therefore, if you are looking to reheat previously prepared hot chicken, we advise you to do so at very low temperatures and for an extended period.

2. Eggs:

Eggs are among the best foods for breakfast and dinner because they contain a range of proteins essential for the human body. However, reheating eggs, whether boiled or fried, creates a food containing dangerous chemical compounds that can cause food poisoning for you and your family. Therefore, you should discard any leftover eggs or let them cool to room temperature and never reheat them.

3. Potatoes:

Who doesn't love fried potatoes? Everyone, especially children, enjoys them as a light snack rich in carbohydrates that provide the body with energy and vitality. However, they are only suitable for one day. You shouldn't prepare a large quantity and reheat them for consecutive days, as this puts your health at risk. Similarly, all fried foods, when reheated, form chemical compounds that are very harmful to human health.

4. Spinach:

Spinach is a favorite food among mothers because it's rich in iron, which provides the body with energy and vitality. It's also rich in nitrates, which, when heated, transform into nitrites. Nitrites can cause various health problems, the most serious being cancer. Therefore, doctors advise against consuming reheated spinach and recommend eating it fresh.

5. Beets:

Beets are a very beneficial vegetable, rich in iron. It's best enjoyed in salads or cooked. However, if you've already cooked them, avoid reheating them to prevent potential harm to your health.

6. Mushrooms:

Mushrooms are rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals. They're an ideal meat substitute in many delicious and nutritious dishes. However, doctors advise against reheating them after they've cooled, just as they advise against reheating all proteins.

7. Celery:

It is a delicious and beneficial vegetable that is often used in the most famous food recipes, especially soups. It contains nitrate salts, which, when heated, turn into nitrite salts, a carcinogenic substance, as we mentioned previously. Therefore, doctors warn against heating celery.
