Skincare Tips for Sensitive and Acne-Prone Skin

Some skin types are both sensitive and prone to acne. While caring for such skin might seem difficult, our tips make it much easier! :) If you have sensitive, acne-prone skin, these tips are perfect for you!

1. Seek Help from an Expert

Seek help from an expert.

Caring for sensitive skin is challenging enough; adding acne to the mix can make things even more difficult. Acne treatment can actually cause further irritation. Therefore, instead of trying to treat this skin problem on your own, we strongly recommend seeking help from a dermatologist. The dermatologist will determine the appropriate treatment and products for your skin, helping you address both skin issues.

2. Going to Extremes

Don't go too far

One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to prevent acne is completely drying out the skin. To cleanse pores, which cause acne and blackheads, it's necessary to choose products that gently cleanse the skin without drying it out. Also, cleansing your face twice a day, morning and evening, is sufficient. In other words, you don't need to constantly wash your face to dry out your pimples. If you overdo it, your skin will become even drier and more irritated, which can increase skin sensitivity.

3. You shouldn't use too many products in a row.

You shouldn't use too many products one after another.

Unless advised otherwise by a dermatologist, you shouldn't use multiple products in your daytime and nighttime skincare routines. Some people try to cleanse their skin with different cleansing gels and use many creams consecutively to get rid of acne quickly. Doing this disrupts the sebum balance in the skin and causes irritation. Instead, unless your dermatologist gives different instructions, we recommend using a gentle cleanser, a moisturizing cream, and of course, sunscreen during the day.

4. Don't forget your moisturizer.

Don't forget your moisturizer!

As mentioned above, you should make sure to use a moisturizer to prevent your skin from drying out or becoming irritated, and you shouldn't leave it out of your skincare routine. You can provide your skin with the necessary moisture support by using a lightweight, gel-cream textured moisturizer.

5. You should avoid strenuous movements.

You should avoid forceful movements.

To remove blackheads and blemishes, you shouldn't exfoliate your skin or wash your face with harsh, cleansing brushes. Harsh brushes can easily irritate sensitive skin, causing redness and burning. Similarly, exfoliation can also irritate your skin. Therefore, you should always use products that allow you to gently cleanse your skin with delicate movements.

6. You can take an allergy test.

Allergy Test

Until you know how your skin will react to a new product, you should apply new skincare products slowly and carefully. You can even test for any reaction before trying it. Apply a small amount to the inside of your arm to ensure it doesn't cause any redness, itching, burning, or stinging.
