Many women strive to wear anything that enhances their beauty, attractiveness, and femininity, and high heels are among the most effective ways to achieve this.
However, many are unaware of the damage high heels can cause. Numerous studies have demonstrated the harmful effects of high heels and the suffering they cause, particularly in women with flat feet. The risks increase with the duration of wear.
Researchers have emphasized that high heels damage the ligaments in the feet and cause walking difficulties. This is due to increased levels of a naturally occurring protein in these areas, which further weakens the foot's ligaments.
Many women love wearing high heels, and studies indicate that 3.5% of women experience foot problems as a result.
A Swedish doctor has warned women against wearing high heels continuously, as it can cause a change in the body's chemical composition that affects mental health and may even lead to mental illness and increased rates of schizophrenia.
Swedish physician Jarl Flensmark stated in his study: "High heels drive women crazy because they put pressure on the ball of the foot, causing severe tension in the feet. This leads to an incorrect gait, preventing nerve receptors in the foot muscles from releasing dopamine, a neurotransmitter crucial for mental well-being. Ultimately, this can lead to mental illness and increase the incidence of schizophrenia."
A medical study also indicated that women who wear heels higher than 5 cm for five days a week experience changes in leg bone length. The calf muscle shortens by an average of 13%, and the Achilles tendon becomes 20% stiffer than normal.
However, Australian doctors reported that women who wear shoes with heels higher than 5 cm for five days a week do not experience a decrease in leg muscle strength. But this explains the pain they complain of after taking off their shoes.
A recent French study also stated that high heels cause fractures in the bones of women's feet, which explains the excruciating pain they experience.
