Insanity, in its general sense, means an individual's inability to control their mind, and consequently, their inability to perceive any facts, matters, or events occurring around them. This results in their inability to live a normal and healthy life within their community, meaning they are unable to perform any tasks or activities in a balanced manner. In Arabic, the term "madness" refers to the loss of one's mind, or its disappearance. Insanity is a mental illness that afflicts individuals, leading to a range of abnormal behaviors that deviate significantly from normal or typical human conduct. This is due to a lack of awareness, the ability to think, and the capacity to distinguish between things. So, what are the causes of insanity? What are the types of this mental illness? And what are the signs that indicate a person is suffering from insanity?


Causes and Factors Leading to Insanity: There are several causes and factors that play a significant role in an individual developing insanity, including:


First: A strong feeling of oppression or extreme injustice, coupled with intense suffering.


Second: Extreme anger and rage, reaching a boiling point.


Third: Sudden panic resulting from experiencing horrific psychological trauma.


Fourth: Losing something precious that cannot be recovered.


Fifth: Some genetic factors.


Sixth: Excessive use of drugs or alcohol.


Seventh: A severe blow to the head or a fall.


Eighth: Certain ear diseases.


Ninth: Intense jealousy or passionate love.


Tenth: Obsessive thoughts and inner dialogue. Types of Madness:


Type One: (Melancholia): This is considered one of the earliest stages of madness. Those afflicted suffer from persistent depression, excessive self-absorption, and often claim to have multiple fatal illnesses.


Type Two: (Monomania): This term refers to being obsessed with one or a specific set of things, while remaining conscious of everything else. Examples include homicidal tendencies, obsessive-compulsive disorder, arrogance, and excessive self-admiration.


Type Three: (Germany): This is a generalized form of madness characterized by intense and severe agitation, during which mental faculties gradually weaken.


Type Four: (Idiocy): This is a natural, innate condition. Those afflicted with this type of madness are often mute, meaning they are unable to speak.


Key Signs of Insanity: There are several signs that may indicate insanity, including:


First: A sudden and abrupt change in behavior and personality.


Second: A strong and pronounced withdrawal from social interaction and a preference for isolation.


Third: A loss of a sense of responsibility.


Fourth: A loss of interest in personal hygiene, including clothing and appearance.


Fifth: Intense and frequent aggression towards others, including destructive behavior.


Sixth: Excessive and loud laughter for no apparent reason.


Seventh: A feeling of disorientation and confusion, and an inability to concentrate.


Eighth: Excessive and unjustified movement, performed randomly and without a clear purpose.


Ninth: Rapid and significant weight loss. Tenth: A lack of concern for any events or matters occurring around them, regardless of their importance.


Eleventh: Expressing a desire for death or suicide as a result of severe depression.


Twelfth: Being highly sensitive to light, sound, and colors.


Thirteenth: Experiencing several sleep disturbances, such as complete inability to sleep or sleeping for excessively long periods.


Fourteenth: Sudden religiosity or extreme atheism; for example, someone who was once very devout might suddenly become the opposite.


Fifteenth: Extreme hostility towards others, in addition to tension and heightened emotional reactions to even minor incidents.


Sixteenth: Seeing imaginary things or hearing strange voices.


Seventeenth: A strong feeling of fear, persecution, or injustice.


Eighteenth: Exaggeration, arrogance, and associating oneself with great figures.
