Oily Skin Care Routine Before Bed

Oily skin requires special care, as it is more prone to clogged pores, blackheads, and acne. At the end of the day, with its exposure to dirt and grime, it's essential to cleanse it thoroughly, not just wash it off.

Here are the most important steps for caring for oily skin before bed:

Removing Makeup: The first step in any suitable nighttime routine is removing makeup, as leaving it on can cause irreparable damage to the skin. It's recommended to use a clean cotton pad moistened with micellar water to remove makeup from oily skin. It's especially important to gently remove eye makeup.

Washing Your Face: After removing makeup, wash your face with a suitable cleanser. It's preferable to choose cleansers containing salicylic, glycolic, or charcoal acids to remove dirt and excess oil trapped in pores. Some believe that washing oily skin too often helps cleanse it and get rid of oil, but the truth is that over-washing oily skin stimulates it to produce even more oil. Using a cleansing mask: Before bed, you can apply a cleansing face mask, such as a clay or charcoal mask, to remove excess oil, purify pores, and ensure your skin is thoroughly clean.

Using blackhead strips: These are strips that are applied to the nose and areas with blackheads. They adhere to the skin and are then removed, leaving pores clear. It is recommended to use them once a week.

Using a toner: Toner is an essential part of an oily skincare routine because it helps to purify pores. It is preferable to use toners containing salicylic acid as an active ingredient. It is recommended to use toner twice a day for oily skin, in the morning and before bed.

Moisturizing: All skin types need a moisturizer, even oily skin. Contrary to popular belief, moisturizing is only for dry skin. In fact, a lack of moisture can lead to oilier skin because the glands produce more oil to compensate for the lost moisture. It is preferable to use a fast-absorbing, water-based or gel-based moisturizer for oily skin.

Using an eye moisturizer: Using an eye moisturizer helps protect the delicate skin around the eyes from dark circles and premature wrinkles, and maintains the elasticity of the skin in this sensitive area.
